Chilean Guava is a medium shrub with small dark green leaves and dainty pink-tinged white flowers, growing to a maximum of 1.8m. However, if kept pruned it will remain more compact. It makes an excellent substitute for a Box hedge, or a gorgeous shrub in containers. Small pinkish-red berries follow the flowers in late summer. The berries have a tangy, aromatic flavour and smell similar to Strawberries. They make delightful little snacks, or can be used in preserves.
